Yemen’s ‘Spider-Man’ climber dies after fall in volcanic crater
Rescuers in Yemen recovered the body of Al-Qaqa Ibn Antar, a 30-year-old adventurer nicknamed the Spider-Man of Yemen, after he fell into the Hardah Dam volcanic crater while climbing without safety gear. Antar’s four-hour search and rescue operation was hampered by steep terrain; divers later found his body at about 30 meters below the water surface. Antar had built a following online for dangerous climbs, and authorities urged climbers to use protective gear to avert similar tragedies.
