Letby case: Doctor once described as her 'boyfriend' publicly identified after anonymity lift
Dr Mark Deakin, long described as Lucy Letby's 'boyfriend' during her 2015–16 trial, has been publicly identified after a court anonymity order was lifted. Deakin, who died aged 53 in July, worked with Letby at the Countess of Chester Hospital and later at Alder Hey; he testified via special measures and faces scrutiny over sharing information. An inquest into Deakin's death will be opened, while Letby's convictions remain under a CCRC review and a Thirlwall inquiry into how Letby carried out the murders is due to publish findings.
