
Spider-Man Holds China's Box Office Crown as Summer Heat Persists
Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day retained the No. 1 spot at the mainland China box office for the Aug. 7–9 weekend with RMB196.6 million (~$28.9 million) in its second frame, bringing its China total to about $185.4 million since the July 29 opening. Pearl Studio’s All Wishes Come True! stayed second with $20.4 million in its fourth weekend; previews for The Odyssey brought in about $6.9 million, and To Your Island opened with $7.9 million. Overall China weekend grosses were $97.3 million, and 2026 year-to-date box office in China stands at $3.57 billion, down about 31.8% from the same period in 2025.
