Convicted Lawyer Dies in Custody Before Sentencing for Girlfriend's Murder
James Ray III, a former police officer and lawyer, who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Angela Bledsoe, died in his New Jersey jail cell on Father's Day. He was awaiting sentencing and faced a life sentence. Ray had been housed at the Essex County jail for more than four years after being arrested trying to enter Cuba about a week after the 2018 shooting.
