US Congress accuses Sony of anti-competitive behavior against Xbox in Japan.
Members of Congress have accused Sony of engaging in anti-competitive behaviour in Japan, claiming that the company makes exclusivity deals with third-party publishers to prevent Xbox from gaining a foothold in the country. Sony has secured a number of third-party titles as PlayStation console exclusives over the years, some of which have come from Japanese publishers. The accusation was supported by two letters from both Republican and Democratic members of Congress, calling on US trade representative Katherine Tai to raise the issue with Japan during trade talks.
