Discrimination's Silent Impact: Heart Health at Risk
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association has found that workplace discrimination can increase the risk of developing high blood pressure. The study analyzed data from over 1,200 U.S. adults and found that those who experienced higher levels of discrimination at work were more likely to develop high blood pressure compared to those who reported lower levels of discrimination. High blood pressure is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the United States. The findings highlight the need for government and employer interventions, as well as anti-discrimination policies, to address and eliminate workplace discrimination effectively.
