Ukraine's Supreme Court Chief Arrested in $2.7M Corruption Probe.
The head of Ukraine's Supreme Court, Vsevolod Kniaziev, has been detained in a $2.7m bribery inquiry, along with another individual, as part of the country's anti-graft measures required for closer integration with the European Union. The investigation implicates a group of judges within the Supreme Court, who have been likened to a "criminal group". The bribery was allegedly offered by Ukrainian billionaire Kostiantyn Zhevago to court officials, with a law firm acting as an intermediary, in order to issue a ruling allowing him to keep control of the shares of a mining company that is at the centre of a dispute with former shareholders.
