Amazon's Failure to Offer Remedies in iRobot Deal Sends Shares Plunging
iRobot's stock plunged 20% after reports that Amazon may not offer concessions in Europe to address antitrust concerns regarding its planned purchase of the robot vacuum maker. The European Commission has set a deadline for the parties to submit remedies, and Amazon's spokesperson stated they are working cooperatively with regulators. The EC has until Feb. 14 to make a final decision on the transaction, and the UK's antitrust regulator has already approved the deal.
