Controversy Erupts Over LGBT Flags on Coffins in Mexican Cathedral
Archbishop Gustavo Rodríguez Vega, vice president of the Mexican Bishops’ Conference, defended the placement of LGBT flags on the coffins of a gay activist and his partner during their funeral in the Aguascalientes cathedral. The archbishop stated that they are "children of God and our brothers" and that the church could not refuse them. However, Father Francisco Torres Ruiz, an expert in liturgy, explained that it is not permissible to display any type of symbology representing ideologies contrary to Christian beliefs during a funeral Mass.
