Tom Hanks has suggested that his image could be recreated using artificial intelligence (AI) after his death, allowing him to continue appearing in movies "from now until kingdom come". However, he acknowledged that the technology posed both artistic and legal challenges. Hanks said that discussions were taking place in the film industry about how to protect actors from the effects of the technology, and that there were concerns about the use of AI-generated versions of actors in films they may not have chosen to appear in.
