Seattle broadens protections for polyamorous, pansexual, and asexual residents
Seattle City Council unanimously expanded city discrimination protections to cover polyamorous relationships and people who identify as pansexual or asexual, extending the definition of sexual orientation and including consensual non-monogamy. The measure, sponsored by Councilmember Alexis Rinck, defines pansexuality and asexuality and takes effect in June 2027, joining similar moves in Olympia, Portland, Oakland, and West Hollywood. The change aims to reduce workplace stigma and recognize diverse family structures.
