Black Trans Hairstylist and LGBTQ Member Shot Dead in Atlanta
Ashley Burton, a Black transgender hairstylist and makeup artist, was shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia. Her body was found outside her apartment complex, and police reports state that she was shot inside her apartment before fleeing outside. Burton's death marks at least the ninth violent death of a trans person in the U.S. this year and the third such killing in Georgia in four months. Her cousin believes that the killer was someone Burton knew and trusted.
