Iowa players dominate in 2023 WNBA Draft.
Three women's basketball players with ties to Iowa were selected in the WNBA draft. Stephanie Soares was drafted fourth overall by the Washington Mystics and then traded to the Dallas Wings. Ashley Joens was taken 19th overall by the Dallas Wings, and Monika Czinano was taken 26th overall by the Los Angeles Sparks. Soares is the highest selected player in Iowa State's history, while Joens scored a school-record 3,060 points over five seasons with ISU and won the last three Cheryl Miller Awards. Czinano played 162 games over five seasons at the University of Iowa and was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
