DOJ Files Lawsuit Against SpaceX for Discrimination in Hiring Refugees and Asylum Recipients
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a complaint against Elon Musk's SpaceX, accusing the company of violating federal law by refusing to hire foreign nationals who were granted U.S. work permits as asylum recipients or refugees. SpaceX argued that U.S. export control laws and the sensitive rocket technology it uses required only U.S. citizens and green card holders to work at the firm. The DOJ claims that this interpretation resulted in illegal discrimination. The complaint seeks to stop the alleged illegal hiring practice, impose a civil penalty, and provide back pay to affected individuals. SpaceX has not yet responded to the allegations.
