Tesla Adds Automatic Collision Evasion for Manual Driving, Powered by FSD Supervised
Tesla is introducing Automatic Collision Evasion, a feature that can automatically engage Full Self-Driving (Supervised) to perform evasive maneuvers when you’re driving manually. It activates in two cases—an imminent frontal collision or when the driver is inattentive—and requires FSD Supervised to be purchased and enabled. Currently rolling out in North America, the system can steer, brake, and even adjust speed to avoid a crash, while muting the accelerator during the maneuver; driver override is possible only with firm steering, and a chime prompts the driver to take over after the hazard passes. Tesla emphasizes this is a last-resort safety net, not general obstacle avoidance, and it doesn’t replace driver responsibility.
