BackerKit, a crowdfunding platform, has announced that it will ban AI-generated content from its platform, including art for board games and tabletop role-playing game projects. This decision comes after concerns were raised about AI-generated art in a Terraforming Mars board game expansion. BackerKit's policy, which goes into effect on October 4, aims to ensure that all content and assets on the platform are created by humans. The company cited concerns about fair compensation and permission for artists as the reason behind the ban. In contrast, Kickstarter, BackerKit's biggest rival, has no such restrictions on AI-generated content.
