Oakland Mayor Presents Ballpark Proposal to A's as Relocation Process Begins
Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao met with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred to present documented evidence of the city's plan to build a new ballpark for the Oakland Athletics. Thao provided Manfred with detailed packages outlining the efforts to construct a waterfront stadium at Howard Terminal. The meeting aimed to dispel Manfred's previous claim that there was no Oakland offer. Thao expressed her willingness to re-open negotiations and fight for the team to stay in Oakland. Manfred seemed receptive to the presentation and said he would forward the materials to the owners' relocation committee. The A's planned relocation to Las Vegas still faces political opposition.
