Tom Hanks explains in a recent interview that his ongoing interest in World War II stories comes from the opportunity to tell deeply human, historical tales, a pull that has kept him returning to WWII projects for over 25 years since Band of Brothers.
The producer of "Masters of the Air" revealed the challenge of depicting characters in oxygen masks in the WWII series, but assured that it was handled well. He also indicated that a "Band of Brothers" remake is unlikely, emphasizing the original's perfection. The series "Masters of the Air" has been praised for its impressive scale and storytelling, and is highly recommended for viewers.
"Masters of the Air," the long-awaited World War II series from executive producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, and Steven Spielberg, debuts on Apple TV+ with a mammoth ensemble and high-flying narrative that frequently soars but occasionally stalls. The show focuses on the 100th Bomb Group stationed in England, featuring a vast cast of characters, impressive production wizardry, and spectacular combat scenes. While the series' patriotism and craftsmanship shine, it struggles with repetitive structure, underwritten female characters, and forced storylines, making it a flawed but powerful addition to the Playtone-produced World War II dramas.
The Augusta Band of Brothers' rescheduled Juneteenth live performances will take place on June 26th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event was postponed due to heavy rain forecasts. The lineup includes Goodie Mob, April Sample + Phaze 360, Mulah DaVinci, Tara & the Snacks, and Drumma SC. The city has provided $20,000 in funding to bring in bigger acts, including CeeLo Green, who is expected to perform.
