Simmons First Shrinks Branch Network With 26 Closures, Six in Arkansas
Simmons First National Corp., parent of Simmons Bank, announced in an SEC filing that it will close 26 branches across six states, including six locations in Arkansas (Pine Bluff, Fort Smith, North Little Rock, Hot Springs and Jonesboro). About 100 employees will be affected, with roughly 70% expected to transfer to other branches or positions. The closures, effective December 4, are part of a broader retail network strategy and are expected to generate $20–$23 million in pre-tax costs and $40–$45 million in third-quarter expenses, while anticipated annual revenue would rise by $37–$42 million once fully implemented, as the company maintains service through nearby branches and other channels.
