BMW's New Battery Plant in Woodruff Signals EV Expansion in the US
BMW has broken ground on a new battery assembly factory in Woodruff, South Carolina. The factory, called Plant Woodruff, will produce batteries for BMW's fully electric vehicles and is expected to employ over 300 people when it opens. The facility will be state-of-the-art in terms of sustainability, flexibility, and digitalization. Construction will begin this fall, and in three years, it will be ready to produce sixth-generation batteries for electric vehicles in Spartanburg. BMW plans to produce at least six fully electric vehicle models at Plant Spartanburg by 2030.
