Fans Demand Battle For Middle-earth Remakes in Lord of the Rings Universe
Fans of the Lord of the Rings franchise are calling for remakes of the Battle for Middle-earth series, following the release of the poorly reviewed The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game. The real-time strategy games, released in 2004 and 2006, respectively, are fan-favourites, but their official servers were shut down in 2010. Fans are nostalgic for the immersive Middle-earth experience provided by the games and are hoping for updated versions.
