CBRE's annual Tech Insights report shows New York overtaking the San Francisco Bay Area as the largest tech talent workforce for the first time, driven by growth in New York and layoffs in the Bay Area (Bay Area down about 6% 2022–2025 while New York up over 8%); despite the shift in sheer headcount, the Bay Area remains the top market on CBRE’s overall scorecard, with New York ranking fourth, reflecting broader strengths in AI, finance and office markets that are drawing talent away from Silicon Valley.
