Buc-ee’s secures $850,000 trademark settlement with South Carolina apparel maker
Texas-based Buc-ee’s won an $850,000 settlement in a trademark case against North Charleston apparel company Born United, which used Buc-ee’s beaver branding on military/patriotic gear. The settlement permanently blocks Born United from using the beaver logo or any confusingly similar designs, requires payment of $850,000 in damages, and mandates destruction of remaining merchandise and removal of related ads. While some other Born United shirts remain, the beaver imagery at issue is no longer permitted under the agreement.
