Underdog South Dakota Sponsors Struggling NASCAR Team
The State of South Dakota has announced its sponsorship of a NASCAR race car as part of its "Freedom Works Here" marketing campaign aimed at attracting people to the state. The car, featuring Governor Kristi Noem's face, will tour South Dakota before participating in races at Richmond and Bristol. The sponsorship cost is estimated at $130,000, and while the team is not projected to make the playoffs, driver B.J. McLeod will still compete. If McLeod wins at Richmond, it would be his first-ever NASCAR win in his 8-year career.
