"Black mayors targeted as Texas resumes inhumane busing of migrants to cities in need"
New York City Mayor Eric Adams criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott for resuming the busing of migrants to cities led by Black mayors, including New York City. Adams called Abbott's actions "morally bankrupt" and "inhumane," and accused him of using the crisis to hurt Black-run cities. Adams called on the federal government to provide additional resources and support to handle the influx of migrants, saying the crisis is too much for one city to handle. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also sent a letter to Abbott urging him to cease sending migrants to Chicago.
