Land Rover Turns Dakar Rally Defender Into a Road-Ready Limited Edition
Land Rover has unveiled a limited-run, road-legal Defender Dakar, derived from its Dakar Rally-winning car and powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo BMW V8 delivering 626 hp and 553 lb-ft to all wheels. Built on the tough D7x platform, it rides on 35-inch tires wrapped around 20-inch wheels, with Bilstein dampers and Dakar-inspired modes (Dunes, Gravel, Flight) plus carbon fiber intakes, flared arches, mud flaps, and roof-mounted light pods. The interior will feature race seats and optional harnesses, with rear helmet storage and other rally-inspired elements. Shown at California Car Week, the model is limited in production and price has not been disclosed.
