Two-year-old Ethiopian twins born sharing a skull (craniopagus) were separated in a 25-hour operation in St. Louis by a nearly 30-strong medical team; the separation involved delicate handling of shared blood vessels and fused brain areas, with Wuhbto later undergoing a cranioplasty and Hiyab scheduled for a similar procedure. The girls are now in rehabilitation in Missouri and are expected to be returned to Ethiopia soon, after years of planning and travel coordinated through a guardian when their parents could not travel.
