Metro to strengthen RFK transit with upgrades and a dedicated Gold Line bus, no new station planned.

Metro’s plan for the RFK redevelopment relies on upgrading the Stadium-Armory station (larger entrances, more escalators/elevators, expanded space) and adding crowd-management measures, plus a new Gold Line bus rapid transit with dedicated lanes to Union Station. Atlanta's Transit Upgrades: Bus-Rapid Line Construction, Track Replacement, and Station Soccer

Construction is set to begin this month on Atlanta's first bus-rapid transit (BRT) line, MARTA Rapid Summerhill. The five-mile route will connect downtown Atlanta to neighborhoods such as Summerhill and Peoplestown, with connections to MARTA's heavy rail system. The project, funded by a sales tax and federal grant, is expected to be completed in spring 2025, with passenger service starting later that year. The BRT line will feature dedicated bus-only lanes, level boarding, and real-time arrival information. MARTA is also planning BRT routes in other areas of Atlanta.

Pittsburgh's Bus Rapid Transit Project Set to Begin Construction This Fall.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit has approved the first phase of construction for the Bus Rapid Transit project linking Downtown, Uptown, and Oakland. The project will use new electric BRT buses that will move passengers between Oakland and Downtown using dedicated lanes. The project is expected to reduce bus congestion and create more efficient service. The Oakland Business Improvement District says the project is critical to facilitate 100,000 commuters daily. Phase two is scheduled to begin next year, and the overall cost of the project is $291 million.
