Toyota's BYD-powered bZ3 electric sedan receives 5,000 orders on first day in China.
Toyota has begun taking orders for its first electric sedan in China, with two more models set to come to the local market next year as part of the bZ lineup of battery-electric cars. The bZ3 electric sedan received 5,000 orders on its first day of sales, with deliveries set to begin this year. Toyota's previously released electric bZ4x SUV has yet to sell at volume, while the company's Rav4 was the sixth-most-sold SUV in China last year. Toyota is also developing hydrogen as a source of power and plans to open its first factory dedicated to hydrogen fuel systems outside Japan in Beijing next year.
