Breonna Taylor shooter hired by nearby sheriff's office.
Myles Cosgrove, the officer who fired the fatal shot in the botched raid that killed Breonna Taylor, has been hired by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, prompting disgust and disappointment from Taylor's family. Cosgrove's attorney claims his client was a scapegoat and has been cleared by both state and federal grand juries. The Louisville Metro Police Department initially terminated Cosgrove in January 2021 for use of deadly force, and the decision was backed by the Louisville Metro Police Merit Board in December 2021. A protest was called in response to Cosgrove's appointment outside the sheriff's office in Carrollton.
