Marte’s Casino Night Triggers Backlash, Diamondbacks Seek Explanation
Ketel Marte missed a game amid a knee issue and was later seen at a casino, prompting Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall to say Marte has “a lot to do” and “explaining to do” to his teammates after his radio-silent absence. Marte met with team officials and was given an MRI, while anonymous teammates criticized the move. Hall indicated the club has handled the matter behind closed doors, and teammates could welcome him back on Monday if he issues a sincere apology, as the team has moved on with a 5-2 stretch and contends with ongoing Wild Card implications amid Marte’s personal challenges.
