"Pain Detection App for Cats: Japanese Innovation Targets Feline Well-being"
A Japanese app called "Cat Pain Detector" claims to be able to detect whether a cat is in pain with 90 percent accuracy. Developed by tech firm Carelogy in collaboration with Nihon University's College of Bioresource Sciences, the app uses an AI detection system trained on thousands of cat photos to analyze the positions of the animals' ears, noses, whiskers, and eyelids. With over 43,000 users since its release, the app aims to help cat owners determine whether their pets need to see a vet. However, further refinement is needed before it can be used as a standardized tool.
