Emmys Trim Primetime Telecast, Shifting Five Categories to Creative Arts for 2026
The Television Academy is moving five categories from the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast to the Creative Arts Emmys (Sept. 5–6) to fit a three-hour broadcast for the 2026 ceremony, including Writing for a Variety Series, Supporting Actor and Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, Directing for a Limited Series or Movie, and Writing for a Limited Series or Movie, a change that has drawn discussion among the industry guilds and comes with a full list of Creative Arts and Primetime Emmy categories.
