AI-Enabled X-62A Demonstrates Autonomous Intercept in Have Heat Trials
In the Have Heat trials, the Air Force’s X-62A VISTA used an AI-driven system fed by Lockheed Martin’s Legion infrared pod to autonomously detect, track, and intercept a live T-38, achieving 27 AI-controlled intercepts across eight flights and signaling progress toward AI-augmented air dominance and sensor-enabled CCAs, with ongoing integration of new avionics and safety controls.
