Williams Sisters Fall in Three-Set US Open Doubles Return
Serena and Venus Williams lost in a three-set first-round doubles match at the 2026 US Open to Maya Joint and Hao-Ching Chan (3-6, 7-6(6), 6-7(7)). It was their first US Open doubles appearance since 2022. The sisters fought back from a rocky start, forcing two tiebreaks, but 26 unforced errors to 15 and a late Chan/Joint surge sealed the win, despite a valiant effort from the 46-year-old Venus and 44-year-old Serena, who have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together and are 14-0 in Grand Slam doubles finals.
