Longview chemical tank rupture leaves 11 dead, all victims recovered
A ruptured tank containing white liquor at Nippon Dynawave Packaging’s Longview pulp-and-paper mill killed 11 people, with the bodies of all nine missing recovered. About 900,000 gallons spilled into the Columbia River; authorities said air quality and Longview drinking water tests showed no negative health impacts. Nippon Paper Industries had acquired the plant in 2016.
