Kia has officially unveiled its new compact electric SUV, the EV5, at the Chengdu Motor Show. The EV5 is a family-friendly electric SUV influenced by the flagship EV9, featuring a bold and rugged design with a new "Tiger Face" front grille. The interior is designed to be a comfortable living space, with adjustable mood lighting and a modern infotainment setup. While powertrain details have not been confirmed, it is expected to ride on Hyundai's E-GMP platform and offer a range of over 600 km (373 miles). The EV5 will compete directly against Tesla's Model Y and is expected to be priced lower, starting at around $42,600. The EV5 will be launched in China later this year, with more details to be revealed at Kia EV day in October.
