China's New-Era Marriage and Childbearing Projects Expand to 20 More Cities.
China's Family Planning Association will launch pilot projects in over 20 cities to create a "new-era" marriage and childbearing culture to encourage women to marry and have children, curb outdated customs, and promote sharing child-rearing responsibilities. The projects come amid a flurry of measures Chinese provinces are rolling out to spur people to have children, including tax incentives, housing subsidies, and free or subsidized education for having a third child. China's first population drop in six decades and its rapid ageing have prompted the government to propose measures such as access to egg freezing and IVF treatment for single and unmarried women.
