US Seizes Luxury Cars Over Banned Chinese Parts Linked to Forced Labor
Thousands of luxury Porsche, Bentley, and Audi cars have been seized at U.S. ports after it was revealed that a Chinese component used in these vehicles breaches anti-forced labor laws. The VW Group, unaware of the part's origin, has notified U.S. authorities and is investigating the matter, with potential termination of supplier relationships. The problematic component, originating from 'western China,' is part of a larger control unit and impounded vehicles include around 1,000 Porsche models, hundreds of Bentleys, and several thousand Audi models. VW has started fixing the affected cars, but clearing the backlog could take several weeks.
