Affleck Matriarch Chris Affleck Dies at 83
Christine Anne Boldt Affleck, known as Chris Affleck and mother of Oscar winners Ben and Casey Affleck, died June 2 at age 83 after a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. A New York City native and Harvard-educated retired public school teacher who spent 35 years teaching, she was a tireless civil rights advocate and one of the original 1960s freedom riders. She and ex-husband Timothy Affleck raised Ben (1972) and Casey (1975) in Massachusetts; she supported their careers, attended Oscars with them, and leaves five grandchildren.
