WeWork's Bankruptcy Filing Sends Stock Plummeting
WeWork is reportedly on the verge of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New Jersey, as the demand for its co-working spaces has declined over time and worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company missed interest payments earlier this month and has been granted 30 days to make those payments. WeWork's stock plummeted over 47% after-hours, trading at just $1.21, giving the company a market cap of $121 million, a significant drop from its $47 billion valuation in 2019.
