Many deaths during the Covid pandemic were not properly counted, including those who died from undiagnosed illnesses such as acute diabetes, leukaemia, other cancers, and acute coronary thrombosis. Pregnant women were also among the casualties. Despite efforts to bring attention to these "collateral Covid deaths," public health officials were not interested in collecting autopsy reports or acknowledging the indirect impact of the pandemic.
