Oakland teachers and district reach agreement on 'Common Good' demands, ending strike.
The Oakland Education Association has announced that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Oakland Unified School District, bringing an end to the seven-day teachers' strike. The agreement includes a 15% raise in compensation, assistance for unhoused students, shared governance, and resources for black thriving community schools. The tentative agreement still needs to be voted on by OEA members, but schools will be open on Monday for students and instruction will resume on Tuesday.
