To address this, the team trained a machine learning model to restore the missing green channel in a more intelligent manner. While the technique shows promise, the harsh lighting setup required for actors is a drawback. The researchers propose time-multiplexing the lighting to mitigate this issue. Although still experimental, this approach offers a fresh, high-tech solution to an age-old problem in media production.
