Sony Faces $7.9 Billion Lawsuit Over PlayStation Store Prices
Sony has been ordered by a London tribunal to face a nearly $8 billion lawsuit over allegations that the company charged "excessive prices" to customers through its PlayStation Store. The lawsuit, brought by consumer advocate Alex Neill on behalf of nearly 9 million people in the UK, claims that Sony abused its dominant market position by requiring digital games and add-ons to be bought and sold exclusively through its online store, resulting in higher prices for consumers. Sony's lawyers have argued that the case should be dismissed, but the tribunal ruled that the lawsuit can proceed.
