EU Identifies 19 Tech Giants for Stricter Online Regulations
The European Commission has named 19 large online platforms and search engines, including Google, Facebook, Apple, Bing, Twitter, and TikTok, that must comply with new online content regulations starting on August 25. The new rules include a ban on targeted advertising based on sensitive data, content moderation requirements, transparency rules, and protections for minors. Companies have four months to comply with the full set of new obligations and could face fines of up to 6% of their annual revenue.
