From 400 Years to Freedom: The Fight for Exoneration of Wrongfully Convicted.

Conviction review units, also known as conviction integrity units, have grown exponentially in recent years and have led to the exoneration of over 670 wrongfully convicted individuals in the US. These units conduct extrajudicial investigations into past convictions to determine if they should be vacated because the person who was convicted is innocent or because the process of convicting them was flawed. While these units have made meaningful changes in their structure, they need more support and resources to have a broader impact on how prosecutor's offices are run.
