China Exposes New US Spying Incident
China's Ministry of State Security announced that a Chinese citizen working for a defense institute has been accused of spying for the United States. The individual's case has been transferred to a court in Chengdu for trial. According to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, the accused, surnamed Hou, was coerced into revealing Chinese state secrets while working as a visiting scholar at an undisclosed U.S. university. The case highlights China's commitment to national security, its strengthened anti-spying laws, and its crackdown on domestic corruption. China has recently intensified its efforts to counter espionage, leading to the arrest and detention of numerous individuals, both Chinese and foreign.
