London Pro-Palestine Rally Marred by Clashes and Arrests
Over 300,000 pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through central London, with more than 120 people arrested as police tried to prevent far-right counterprotesters from disrupting the rally. Skirmishes broke out between police and the counterprotesters near the Cenotaph war memorial, and bottles were thrown at police in a separate incident. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned the violence and criticized "Hamas sympathizers" at the rally. The larger pro-Palestinian march remained peaceful, but small groups broke away and fired fireworks at police. Investigations into hate crimes and support for proscribed organizations are ongoing.
