Court Avenue's Crime Perception Forces Spaghetti Works Closure.
Spaghetti Works, one of the first major Court Avenue restaurants in Des Moines, has permanently closed after 45 years due to a shift to more stay-at-home downtown office workers and the perception of crime in the area. The owners blame the pandemic slowdown and the changing times. The city of Des Moines hopes to revitalize the Court Ave. district and change people's mindset. Spaghetti Works is considering selling its space to a future business, possibly another restaurant.
